Unattended (Direct) Funeral
What is a Direct Cremation or Direct Burial?
A ‘Direct Cremation’ or ‘Direct Burial’ service simply means that your loved one is cremated or buried without mourners attending a funeral service at the Crematorium or Cemetery.
The cremation or burial will take place as soon as the necessary paperwork is completed, at a time and date that is agreeable with you, usually about two weeks after the death.
You are welcome and invited to say goodbye to your loved one at our Chapel of Rest. The coffin can be open or closed and your loved one can either be dressed in their own clothes or in one of our gowns.

- No extra charges for spending time with your loved one in our Chapel of Rest
- Collection from home, nursing home, and hospital day or night at no extra charge.
- The cremation or burial will take place in the local crematorium or cemetery.
What is the cost and what is included in the service?
A Direct Cremation service is currently £2,037 fully inclusive of all costs and includes:
- All Doctors’ fees paid on your behalf.

All Cremation fees at Woodvale Crematorium paid on your behalf.

Provision of a simple unpolished oak effect coffin

Visiting your loved one in our Chapel of Rest

The opportunity to follow behind us as we take your loved one on their final journey to Woodvale Crematorium or the Cemetery
- A personal interview to receive your instructions over the telephone or via email.

Guidance on the Registration of Death.

Completion of all legal necessities and documentation relating to the funeral on your behalf.

Provision of your loved ones’ ashes in a functional container.
Please note that the funeral account must be paid in full prior to the Direct Cremation service.

Their help and guidance was even more important as I was overseas and there were delays with the official process. I felt I could contact them at any time and ask anything. When planning Mum’s service, Ben was warm and understanding, offering useful advice at every step. He put us in touch with our wonderful celebrant, Colette Harber, who was also a tremendously warm, kind person and who constructed and then conducted the service perfectly. This is a difficult time for loved ones and I would say that Bungards made that so much easier, enabling us to truly view the service as a celebration of Mum’s life. They were to me like an extended family that were on the end of the phone when I needed them. So warm and down to earth. My father had a military honoured funeral and Ben coordinated the extra elements with such assurity and professionalism. On the day the kindness and care was so wonderful. June 17, 2024I CANNOT FAULT THIS FUNERAL DIRECTORS AND HOW BEN COMFORTED ME IN THE WORST TIME OF MY LIFE IS ABSOLUTELY IMPECCABLE. HE IS THE GREATEST AND SO ARE HIS MEN AND DEAR ZOE.
