Unattended (Direct) Funeral
What is a Direct Cremation or Direct Burial?
A ‘Direct Cremation’ or ‘Direct Burial’ service simply means that your loved one is cremated or buried without mourners attending a funeral service at the Crematorium or Cemetery.
The cremation or burial will take place as soon as the necessary paperwork is completed, at a time and date that is agreeable with you, usually about two weeks after the death.
You are welcome and invited to say goodbye to your loved one at our Chapel of Rest. The coffin can be open or closed and your loved one can either be dressed in their own clothes or in one of our gowns.

Ben and his team were fantastic and I cannot recommend them highly enough. Ben absolutely understood and delivered to all our requirements (even a last minute one on the day). His communication throughout was fantastic and demeanour on the day was faultless. This meant that we could focus on the celebration of the life our beloved uncle, and not the logistics. Bungards have continued to look after our family for a number of generations now, and remain an excellent choice because of their care, diligence and professionalism. Thank you.

I can only add to all the other 5 star reviews below. Ben and the team were amazing, so kind and helpful giving advice when asked but never pushy. Nothing was too much trouble and my family were always treated with courtesy and patience. I felt my daughter was in safe hands from the moment she was collected until it was time to say goodbye. Catherine the celebrant worked with us to create a moving and very personal service. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend Bungards to anyone.

Impeccable service. All at Bungard were supremely discreet, sympathetic and efficient throughout. The funeral service arrangements themselves were first class. At the outset, we had found ourselves obliged to request the transfer of the deceased from another funeral directors and this was handled with the utmost care and professionalism.

I was very impressed with the courteous and professional demeanor of all of the Bungard staff in dealing with my most recent bereavement. At this sad occasion I have begun a thought process myself and I will be using this family firm for my own funeral when it is time. Thank you once again for your dignity and professionalism.
